Cornerstone Bed and Breakfast
The Cornerstone B&B is built on the south side of Cooper Mountain at the gateway to wine country overlooking beautiful green pastures, orchards and vineyards. In the warm summer evenings guests love to watch the crimson sunset from their rocking chairs on the large covered deck surrounding the house. If you listen carefuly you can hear the owls hooting in the twilight and watch over 20 species of birds coming for their last meal of the day at our feeders.
There is never a lack of things to see and do. Being at the gateway to wine country, we have two well known wineries within a mile. The Ponzi and Cooper Mountain Wineries have their tasting rooms open daily. There are over 100 wineries to visit within 40 miles or less from our B&B.
We are also about 18 minutes from the fabulous Oregon Zoo in Washington Park. While you are at Washington Park you can see the Forestry Center, the Children's Museum, the International Rose Test Gardens, the Japanese Gardens or the Hoyt Arboritum.
If you enjoy museums there is the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry in downtown Portland with a great IMAX Theater and many hands on science experiments and displays. There is also the wonderful Portland Art Museum www.portlandartmuseum.org with six stories of modern art. For the men who have a "need for speed" there is always the Evergreen Air and Space Museum about 40 minutes away in McMinnville which houses the Spruce Goose, a Blackbird Spy Plane and over 150 other planes and helicopters tracing the history of flight. Just recently they opened a new Space Museum and a great IMAX Theater.
Now I want to tell you a little bit about the B&B itself. The B&B was designed, built and is now operated by the owners, Harold and Margaret, with every aspect of your comfort, pleasure and safety in mind.
For your comfort there is air conditioning in every room and each room has its own thermostat control for you to set the temperature that you desire. The hot water system has been specially designed to provide instant hot water. All of the walls in the guest rooms are heavily insulated and have double dry wall to dampen any noise. All of the guest rooms have wall to wall carpets to further reduce noise. There are two luggage racks, full closets and dresser drawers in each room to provide easy access to your clothes.
For your pleasure there is cable television in each room along with a CD player and clock radio. There are plush bath robes for your use during your stay. There is a beautiful library for you to enjoy. In the library there are many books, encyclopedias, games and puzzles for your entertainment. There is WI-FI throughout the house for your computing pleasure and business. A collection of brochures have been gathered for you to find just the right things to see and do in the Portland area. During the summer there are rocking chairs on the deck for you to sit and read or just enjoy the beautiful views of the countryside and sunsets in the evening.
For your safety there is not a single step that you have to navigate between your car and your room. Each room has its own bathroom and one of our rooms is specifically designed to meet ADA compliance. Every room has its own private entrance from the deck that surrounds the house. This provides immediate exit in case of any emergency. Each room is equipped with a smoke detector that is connected into every other smoke detector in the house. If one smoke detector goes off they are all activated. There are fire extinguishers within easy reach of all guests. The house is also completely covered with a fire sprinkler system with sprinkler heads in every room.
With regards to cost per night, we have a sliding scale. If you stay for only one night, the cost is $125.00. If you stay for two or three nights, the cost is $115 per night. If you stay four or more nights, the cost is $110 per night.
